There is nothing seen in a gcode visualizer that will help with this process either. The chart will help you determine the size of a chainsaw chain. The chart includes measurements in inches and millimeters, so you can easily compare chain file sizes. Hey Guys, I just engraved a 15cm long line and the real length is 13.8cm. There is always a Trial & Error period for each user before they achieve any successful results. This chart provides information on the size of different chain files, based on the type of material you’re cutting. Nothing is perfect because there are so many other variables that effect the laser photo engraving’s outcome like your focal point size, Pixel Resolution (step over), feedrate, min/max laser power values and the material your engraving on. Have multiple parts and designs in one file. With the above tool chain, when I perform a cut, it starts the cut at the origin, instead of where its laid out on the page. Your laser should have some options to determine the order in which lines are cut but one way for you to control that is to put different cuts on separate layers on to turn the print of each layer on and off in the order you want. I use it quite often when I’m editing an image. Corel Draw 12, LaserDrw plugin, generic k40 type laser, object placement. In the PicLaser image editor there is a Preview Gray Scale selection that gives you a general idea what your laser photo engraving will look like from a color image. I have been using coreldraw with the moshiboard. do the engraving, then set rectangle black and delete the engraving in the center and have it cut it out. Then have the engraving in layer 2 placed within the rectangle. Load it in UGS and and rotate the visualizer to an isometric view plane (if that is possible) and you will then be able to see the depth variances based on the shades in your image. I typically use Adobe Illustrator to create art, now that I have a K40 with Laserdrw, how do I get an irregular shape, draw lets say drawn with the pencil tool or the outline of shapes combined with the pathfinder out of Illustrator and into Laserdrw I can’t seem to figure it out. What i have been doing is make a rectangle the size you want your part to be on layer 1. Change the Laser Control Command to a Z and the Max Laser Value to a -.125 and generate the gcode again. (3) Select the appropriate FRAME for the image. (2) Select ENGRAVE in the ENGRAVE menu. K40 Whisperer reads SVG and DXF files, interprets the data and sends commands to the K40 controller to move the laser head and control the laser accordingly. The UGS visualizer does not recognize S commands, so the view will only be a X&Y plane. Step Three: Select the Placement of the Engraving Move the placement of the design in the software to move the laser head to the correct location. K40 Whisperer is an alternative to the Laser Draw (LaserDRW) program that comes with the cheap Chinese laser cutters available on E-Bay and Amazon.
